Torrent Power VR Electrical Field Service Training

Overview

Torrent Power VR Electrical Field Service Training Simulator is a production-grade training platform for electrical field technicians. Before entering the VR site, trainees use a 2D equipment store to select the correct PPE, tools and safety equipment for the assigned job module. They then enter a realistic 3D electrical site (LTFS, transformer, fuse pillar, distribution panel, emergency fault) and must perform every task in the correct SOP sequence — safety setup, LOTO, PTW, earthing, repair, verification and closure. Every action is tracked: correct actions award points, unsafe operations trigger fatal mistakes and game-over states, with a detailed post-session breakdown of every error and deduction. Supervisors access a full analytics dashboard.

Challenge

Training electrical field technicians on dangerous equipment using live sites creates safety risk, is expensive to scale, and fails to provide measurable per-technician assessment. Technicians had no way to safely practice LOTO, PTW and earthing procedures before field deployment.

Solution

A Unity-based platform with 9 independent training sites, a 2D pre-job equipment store, a SOP-driven task engine that enforces correct action sequences, a fatal-mistake detection system, and an analytics layer that tracks every technician's complete training history — deployed as accessible WebGL applications requiring no dedicated hardware.
